Perth Scorchers hit the Perth CBD to unveil a mural celebrating their 2021-22 KFC Big Bash League and Weber Women’s Big Bash League Championship titles.

The striking new street art by Paul Deej, which took five days to complete, features Scorchers team captains Sophie Devine and Ashton Turner as well as star players Alana King, Mitch Marsh, Chloe Piparo, and Andrew Tye.

The 10-metre-long mural, immortalising Perth’s double championship season for all fans to enjoy, is situated on King Street between Wellington Street and Roe Street.

The Club is calling on all fans to show their passion by taking a photo of themselves at the mural and sharing these pictures across social media using #DoubleChamps.

More than 10 buildings across the Perth metro area, including Optus Stadium, Matagarup Bridge, Elizabeth Quay, Yagan Square, the Bell Tower and Perth Concert Hall will light up orange tonight to celebrate the Club’s success and tickets on sale for the highly anticipated season ahead.

Tickets will be available via Ticketmaster from 12pm AWST today.

After seven summers and two losing grand finals, the Scorchers women lifted their maiden WBBL trophy in front of a record League crowd of more than 15,000 at Optus Stadium in November.

Just two months later the Scorchers men claimed their fourth title, becoming the most successful team in the MBBL competition.

Members and fans will have at least six chances to see the WBBL|07 champions in action on home turf when they launch their title defence under lights at the WACA Ground on Thursday 20 October.

The BBL|11 champions will fire up The Furnace for the first time in over a year with a twilight Grand Final re-match against Sydney Sixers on Saturday 17 December.

The WA community is in for a thrilling season that will feature more home games than ever before, themed matches and lots of entertainment the whole family can enjoy.

All tickets and specific pricing information can be accessed via cricket.com.au/big-bash or by searching ‘Big Bash tickets’.

Perth Scorchers General Manager Justin Michael said;

“It’s fantastic to honour our Scorchers’ recent success through a street art mural in the heart of our city.

“Seeing the amazing achievements of our men’s and women’s teams celebrated on one of WA’s iconic streets is something we can all be incredibly proud of.

“Our players and coaches are especially motivated to build on that success in front of our loyal Members and fans when Big Bash action returns to Perth in the coming months.

“With tickets for both tournaments now on sale, we can’t wait to see the WACA Ground, Optus Stadium and Lilac Hill packed out with a sea of orange throughout the summer.

“We would like to thank PEP Transport for their support over the past year and look forward to taking this partnership to a new level and helping them engage with our Scorchers community.”

Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas, who attended the unveiling event said;

“I am so pleased to see both teams honoured today through this magnificent street art in the heart of the City – they’ve made Perth proud. This colourful mural is inspiring and encourages us all to get behind the Scorchers for their next season.”

Local transport and courier company PEP Transport, who have re-committed as the Major Partner of the Scorchers for a second season, delivered the WBBL|07 and BBL|11 championship trophies to the mural unveiling event.

PEP Transport Express Managing Director Tony Florido said;

“The team at PEP Transport is proud to continue our support of another proud West Australian team in Perth Scorchers.

“Working in partnership is central to our transport business and our Perth Scorchers partnership allows us to reward the people who are important to us, our staff, our partners, our customers and our community.

“As Perth’s leading transport and logistics company, it gave us great pleasure to safely deliver the two Champions trophies to today’s unveiling of the double champs mural created by Paul Deej.”
