The all-dashing and dynamic all-rounder Shoaib Malik, whose professional cricketing career spans four decades, is all set to offer his vital experience to Karachi Kings’ squad for the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9.
Shoaib Malik has been a force to be reckoned with since the inception of the marquee league. The all-rounder led the Kings in the inaugural edition and served the franchise as a specialist all-rounder in the second season.
For his all-round expertise, Malik was on the radar of several other HBL PSL franchises and represented Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi from 2018 to 2022 before returning to Karachi Kings after a historic trade.
The 2020 champions traded then Pakistan captain Babar Azam with Shoaib Malik and Haider Ali, in a bid to add more experience to their promising lineup.
The move paid dividends for the Kings as Malik scored 200 runs in nine innings at an average of 28.57 and a strike rate of 157 with the best score of 71 not out.
This took him past the 2000-run mark in the history of the league. Shoaib Malik is the third leading run-scorer of HBL PSL with 2082 runs at a magnificent average of 33.58.
But it is not just his batting masterclass, Malik also brings his extravagant bowling skills to the table and possesses the ability to provide a breakthrough to his team.
In the previous HBL PSL, he bowled for Karachi Kings in four matches and picked up as many wickets at an average of just 15.5.
All in all, the right-arm spinner has 15 HBL PSL wickets to his name with the best bowling figures of 3/16.
As an all-rounder, Malik leaves no stone unturned as he backs his brilliant batting and bowling dexterities with his exceptional fielding, which gives him an edge over the rest of his counterparts.
