The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced on Friday that Siddhartha Bank has secured the title sponsorship rights for the upcoming Nepal Premier League (NPL) T20 cricket tournament for a five-year term.
CAN Secretary Paras Khadka mentioned that while the value of the agreement with Siddhartha Bank, one of Nepal’s largest private commercial banks, remains undisclosed, the deal represents the highest-ever sponsorship amount in the history of Nepali sports.
Additionally, CAN revealed that the official broadcasting partner for the NPL will be Star Sports Network, a prominent Indian television sports channel group. Star Sports, known for broadcasting major cricket tournaments like the Indian Premier League, English Premier League, Wimbledon, and ICC events, will handle the tournament’s coverage.
CAN also noted that no NPL matches will be scheduled on December 1 due to by-elections in Kirtipur.
The inaugural NPL season will run from November 30 to December 21 at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
“The by-polls are taking place in Kirtipur on December 1. The local government has requested us not schedule any match on the by-election day. We will coordinate with all the concerned bodies and unveil the fixture in a few days,” Khadka said.
Eight teams, representing various provinces, will compete: Kathmandu Gurkhas, Chitwan Rhinos, Biratnagar Kings, Janakpur Bolts, Pokhara Avengers, Karnali Yaks, Lumbini Lions, and Sudurpashchim Royals.
