Sky NZ extends BCCI home international rights

Must Read

Sky New Zealand, the country’s leading pay-TV provider, has renewed its broadcast partnership with the BCCI for four years. The agreement, extending through 2028, covers all home matches of the Indian men’s national cricket team.

This includes New Zealand’s upcoming tour of India, featuring three Test matches from October 16 to November 5 this year. The deal also encompasses Twenty20 matches and one-day internationals, totaling 72 fixtures through 2028.

The renewed partnership will kick off on September 19 with the start of Bangladesh’s tour of India, which will continue until October 13.

After New Zealand’s tour, the BCCI’s home international schedule for the 2024-25 season will conclude with England’s tour of India, scheduled from January 23 to February 12, 2025.

Sky New Zealand chief content and commercial officer Jonny Errington commented on the deal: “We know how much our customers value cricket, and in particular the caliber of the international cricket played in India, so it is pleasing to confirm coverage of these matches, alongside our broader cricket line up.”

Sky NZ holds a range of cricket rights in New Zealand, including major events organized by the ICC through 2028. Renewed in May, this deal covers 16 ICC events, starting with the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and extending through the 2028 tournament, which New Zealand will co-host with India.

Domestic New Zealand Cricket rights are exclusively held by TVNZ through a three-year agreement announced in late 2022.
