The U19 Team Head Coach is responsible for the coaching, leadership and management of the Sri Lanka’s young cricketers. He will need to develop an environment that provides high quality coaching and the necessary support to the players involved to maximize their potential. He will be in charge with preparing these young players in all appropriate ways to compete successfully against its international opponents during bilateral tours both home & away and leading into ICC World Cup and ACC tournaments.

>> Principal Responsibilities

  • To prepare and deliver the U19 Team practice and match programs under the direction of High Performance Centre
  • Organize and run practice sessions for the selected U19 players and ensure maximum opportunities for all players to develop their skill base
  • Provide access to high quality indoor and outdoor practice facilities to deliver the programs
  • To undertake one on one coaching of players in the Sri Lanka Cricket Player Pathway
  • Travel with the U19 Team on designated home and away tours
  • To observe Sri Lanka Cricket U19 players in competitions where possible
  • To develop team and individual objectives
  • To provide written feedback on team and individual performances
  • To work with the Sri Lanka Cricket High Performance staff and assist in the selection of the players for the various programs

>> Knowledge & Experience

  • To hold a Level 3 Coaching Qualification
  • Having played International or First Class Cricket would be an added advantage
  • Head Coach experience managing players during national tours will be desirable
  • An experienced coach, with expertise in developing talented elite cricketers
  • Prepared to spend time coaching at all levels of Sri Lanka Cricket Player Pathway
  • Exceptional planning, coordination and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • High level interpersonal, written, and verbal communication and influencing skills
  • Good general IT skills
  • Strong disciplinary skills

In addition to working within the team environment, the U19 Team Head Coach should be prepared to work independently and irregular hours.
