Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is the governing body for cricket in Sri Lanka. Originally registered as the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka on June 30, 1975, it was renamed Sri Lanka Cricket in 2003.

Sri Lanka Cricket held a special meeting headed by President Shammi Silva with National Team Management and the selection panel to preview Sri Lanka’s World Cup preparations.

Also present at the meeting, which were held on the 20th September were Mr. Mohan de Silva, Honorary Secretary, Sri Lanka Cricket; Mr. Ashley De Silva, CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket; Mr. Chris Silverwood, Head Coach of the National Team; Mr. Mahela Jayawardena, Consultant Coach of the National Team; and Mr. Mahinda Halangode, Team Manager.

Chief Selector Pramodya Wickramasinghe and members of the selection panel, Mr. Romesh Kaluwitharana and Hemantha Wickramaratne, were also present. During the meeting, the Sri Lanka team’s commendable performances in the Asia Cup 2023 were discussed, while measures to be taken to avoid a repetition of the final game also came into focus.

The selectors, during the meeting, explained the intended composition of the World Cup squad and also possible contingency plans in place for’ replacements’ if such a measure is needed.

During the meeting, all in attendance were in agreement that the national team is in the right direction towards making further progress and were optimistic that the upcoming World Cup will bring glory to the nation.
