SLC: Sri Lanka Women Cricketers to undergo a ‘Residential Training Camp’

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is the governing body for cricket in Sri Lanka. Originally registered as the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka on June 30, 1975, it was renamed Sri Lanka Cricket in 2003.

A Residential Training Camp will be held for 23 Sri Lanka Women’s Cricketers, starting from 09th September 2021, to prepare for future tours and the World Cup Qualifying Tournament.

Women Cricketers from Sri Lanka National and Emerging Squads have been included to take part in the camp, which will be held under a ‘Bio-Bubble’ environment.

The camp will be conducted at the P. Sara Oval, (The Base of the Women’s High-Performance Center) and will consist of skills and fitness training, game education, and also intra-squad practice games.

The players taking part in the program were nominated by the Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Committee.

Women’s Head Coach Hashan Tillakaratne, Ravindra Pushpakumara (Fast Bowling), Lanka de Silva (Fielding), and Dinuk Hettiarachchi (Spin Bowling), will be the coaches conducting the camp, along with the support staff.

U19 Men’s ‘Residential Training Camp’

A Residential Training Camp will be conducted for the 26 Under 19 players selected focusing on upcoming Inbound Tours, U19 Asia Cup, and the U19 World Cup.

The 22 Day Training Camp will be conducted at the SSC, Colombo, under a Bio-Bubble Environment.

The youngsters will go through skills training, fitness, match scenarios and finish the camp by playing three 50 over games.

In addition to the on-field focus, the players will also take part in personal development activities, during the program, which will commence on the 09th September, 2021.

The Junior National Selectors chose the squad of 26 members out of the 75 players, chosen via an Island wide Talent Profiling Program conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket.

Before the selection of the 26 players, the 75 players underwent a Residential Training Program in Kandy.

The Residential Training Program, will be conducted by the newly appointed U19 Coach Avishka Gunawardene,  Upul Chandana ( Fielding), Chamila Gamage ( Fast Bowling), Sachith Pathirana ( Spin Bowling), and Dhammika Sudarshana ( Batting), along with the support staff.
