SLC to take legal action against three individuals making false and malicious statement

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is the governing body for cricket in Sri Lanka. Originally registered as the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka on June 30, 1975, it was renamed Sri Lanka Cricket in 2003.

Having given due consideration to the gravity of the unsubstantiated and malicious allegations impugning the good name and integrity Sri Lanka Cricket, and its President, Mr. Shammi Silva, the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka
Cricket, has instructed its legal counsel to take swift, and appropriate legal action against three individuals namely Asela Sampath, Sanjaya Mahawatta and other individual who appeared before the media recently, making the said false
and malicious statement.

Accordingly, SLC has sent Letters of Demand claiming Rupees Five Hundred Million from each individual as damages for the reputational losses that occurred to Sri Lanka Cricket and its officials by the said false and derogatory statement.
