Sri Lanka Cricket granted a sum of LKR 13.43 million for the country’s health sector

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is the governing body for cricket in Sri Lanka. Originally registered as the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka on June 30, 1975, it was renamed Sri Lanka Cricket in 2003.

Sri Lanka Cricket granted a sum of LKR 13.43 million for the country’s health sector in order to purchase medical equipment for the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH) and the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Kalubowila.

Accordingly, LKR 9.73 million were granted in favor of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases to ‘Supply, Deliver, and Install a Vacuum Insulated 3000L. Cryogenic Liquid Oxygen Tank,’ for the Hospital.

Whilst LKR 3.7 million was granted in favor of the National Health Development Fund to purchase a ‘Fixed Ventilator’ to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Kalubowila.

The Minister of Youth and Sports Honorable Namal Rajapaksa handed over the grants respectively to Dr. Chintha Subashini Sooriyaarachchi, Acting Deputy Director of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, and Dr. Ruwanthi Perera, Chairperson, Donation Committee of the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Kalubowila.

Present during the occasion was Mr. Shammi Silva, President of Sri Lanka Cricket, Mr. Mohan de Silva, Honorary Secretary of Sri Lanka Cricket, Mr. Ashley De Silva, CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket, and Major Tanesh B. Dias, Senior Manager, Human Resources at Sri Lanka Cricket.

 Dr. Lasitha Malalasekera, Deputy Director of Colombo South Teaching Hospital, and Dr. Chula Senaratne of the Colombo South Teaching Hospital also were present, representing the Hospital.

 The Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket approved the above-said grant continuing to fulfill Sri Lanka Cricket’s Corporate Social Responsibility towards the nation.

 The donation was handed over to the respective institutions last week at the Temple Trees.
