Sri Lanka Cricket opens Ratnapura District Cricket Ground

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is the governing body for cricket in Sri Lanka. Originally registered as the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka on June 30, 1975, it was renamed Sri Lanka Cricket in 2003.

Sri Lanka Cricket today declared open the newly built Ratnapura District Cricket Ground in Monaravila thus providing a much-needed facility for the area, which will help enhance the game in the Sabaragamuwa province.

The new ground, which consists of seven center turf wickets, is equipped to host first-class games, under-19 cricket matches, practice games with touring teams, and international women’s cricket.
The schools and cricket clubs in the area will be given the ground to conduct their practice sessions and also play games.

The Honorary President of the SLC, Mr. Shammi Silva, declared the facility open, along with the participation of Mr. Kanchana Jayaratne, the President of the Ratnapura District Cricket Association; Mr. Sanath Jayasuriya, Consultant Sri Lanka Cricket; Mr. Wanindu Hasaranga, Sri Lanka T20I Captain; and Mr. Pathum Nissanka, Sri Lanka National Player, among several other dignitaries.
