The Sydney Sixers have bid a fond farewell to Australian and NSW great Nathan Lyon after it was confirmed he had signed with the Melbourne Renegades for KFC BBL|13.
Lyon appeared in 34 matches across 10 seasons with the Sixers and played in the team that won the BBL|09 Final against the Melbourne Stars at the SCG. He was also part of the squad that won BBL|10.
His 42 wickets for the Sixers have Lyon fifth on the club’s all-time list, while the 5/23 he claimed against the Hobart Hurricanes in BBL|05 remains the Sixers’ second-best bowling figures in a match.

Sixers head coach Greg Shipperd paid tribute to the contribution Lyon had made to the club on and off the field.
“We’d like to wish Nathan all the best in his move down to the Renegades and thank him for all that he has done for the Sixers across a decade,” Shipperd said.
“On the field he brought bucket loads of experience and skill, and we were able to share in title winnings seasons.
“Off the field Nathan was selfless in giving of his time to our members and fans. He was also always willing to spend time helping develop young players that joined our squad, particularly the spin bowlers.”
The Sixers kick-off their BBL|13 campaign against the Renegades at the SCG on December on December 8.
