Alyssa Healy set a new record for most T20 International dismissals, by either a male or female wicketkeeper, in a series clinching win for the Australian Women’s team over New Zealand on Sunday.
The Sixers wicketkeeper-batter claimed a stumping and a catch during the eight-wicket T20 win at Allan Border Field, Brisbane, to take her to 92 dismissals including 42 catches and 50 stumpings.
Healy is one ahead of the great Indian wicketkeeper M S Dhoni.
Australian won the first match on Saturday by 17 runs. The third and final match of the T20 series takes place on Wednesday at Allan Border Field before three One-Day Internationals at the same venue.
Healy is only one of two female wicketkeepers in T20 International cricket to take 50 stumpings with England wicketkeeper Sarah Taylor, who claimed 51 during her distinguished career.
In the successful run chase, Healy got the innings off to a trademark fast start hitting 33 from 17 balls.
In typically humble style, Healy gave most credit to the bowlers following the win.
“Obviously a nice individual accolade but honestly, it reflects better on our bowling attack than myself,” said Healy.
“It’s obviously nice for me personally but it just shows the strength of our bowling attack we’ve had throughout my entire career.”
