Balancing the Higher School Certificate and playing in the WBBL is no easy feat but that is exactly what fast bowler Stella Campbell has done, and now that she has completed her final exam, defending champions Brisbane Heat become her focus.
One of the most exciting fast bowlers in the competition, Campbell has claimed four wickets in the only two completed matches for the Sixers, both of which were rain affected wins. The other two scheduled matches were abandoned due to the wet weather.
On Sunday, the 18-year-old speedster claimed career best figures of 3-32 from her four overs in the win over the Melbourne Renegades.
Her final exam was on Monday and Campbell was filled with relief.
“Yesterday was my last exam and I woke up this morning just relieved and so excited to get out and about in the Village, have a chat to everyone and get involved in all the activities,” said Campbell.
Her pace was a key factor to victory over the Renegades and will be again against the Brisbane Heat.
“I always want to get quicker. I think it’s something that hasn’t been seen too much in the female game as of late. It’s definitely something I want to be working to improve every season.”
