The Sydney Sixers have joined Team NSW in supporting the NSW Government’s Sport Super Sunday vaccination initiative being held this weekend for people aged 16 to 39 from the twelve local government areas of concern in Greater Sydney.

NSW Deputy Secretary Susan Pearce called on everyone who loves to play or watch sport to run up the score this weekend and set a new Super Sunday vaccination record.

“Previous Super Sundays helped vaccinate more than 10,000 supermarket and food industry workers, construction workers and university students in one day, but now it’s time for you to step up for your favourite team or sport,” Ms Pearce said.

“Our vaccination hubs have bookings available for people aged 16 – 39 in local government areas of concern across Sydney and we want to see sporting clubs rally together and promote vaccinations across their teams.

“It would be great to see people wearing team colours at our hubs to go into the draw for some great prizes and a chance to prove which code came out the strongest.”

Appointments are available at Qudos Bank Arena and the NSW Health Vaccination Centres at Sydney Olympic Park and Macquarie Fields this Sunday 29 August for all sports lovers.

Those aged 16 to 39 who live in Bayside, Blacktown, Burwood, Campbelltown, Canterbury-Bankstown, Cumberland, Fairfield, Georges River, Liverpool, Parramatta, Strathfield or Penrith, should make a booking via the NSW Government website.

Cricket NSW CEO Lee Germon said that Cricket NSW along with WBBL and BBL teams, the Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder, are strongly encouraging vaccinations so we can all get back on the field faster.

“As the Government and the Health Professionals have conveyed, vaccination is the best way to protect yourself and those around you against COVID-19. Vaccination is also likely to be the key to the resumption of community cricket and will enable fans to attend elite cricket this summer.

“For cricketers and fans of our great game from those areas of concern in Greater Sydney, this weekend’s Sport Super Sunday provides a great opportunity for you and your teammates to get vaccinated and play your role in helping us get back on the field as soon as possible.”

The NSW Government website contains detailed information around the COVID-19 vaccine and NSW Health vaccination program, and members of the public should consult their GP if they have any specific queries around their personal situation.
