The Sydney Sixers are returning home for Weber WBBL|08.
The full WBBL|08 fixture is set to be announced tomorrow, with all Clubs to play home matches during the season for the first time in three years.
And the Sixers are coming back to their spiritual WBBL home at North Sydney Oval for the season’s final – and potentially most crucial – regular season week.
With new coach Charlotte Edwards at the helm, the high-profile Sixers will kick off the season against the Brisbane Heat in Mackay on October 13, but it is the three matches they will host at North Sydney on November 16, 18 and 20 that will have fans salivating.
On Wednesday November 16 the club will take on the Heat in the return clash, before a blockbuster Sydney Smash against the Thunder two days later.
Then on Sunday November 20 they will square off against the Hobart Hurricanes on the tournament’s final regular season day in a double header that will also feature the Thunder.
The series of matches will mark the first time the Sixers have played in front of their fans at home since WBBL|06, when the entire season was staged in Sydney under bio-secure conditions.
Chris Botherway, Acting Head of Sixers, said fans can expect plenty of fun and excitement at North Sydney.
“We are delighted to be coming back home to North Sydney for that final week of this year’s WBBL,” Botherway said.
“To be away from our fans for all last season was challenging for everyone but we are really pumped about what this year can look like.
“Our new coach Charlotte Edwards has made no secret of the fact she wants the team playing an exciting brand of attacking cricket.
“Fans will be able to catch some of the summer’s hottest action and also get back to the pre-COVID times where girls and boys can meet the players after the match for a selfie or an autograph.”
The Weber WBBL|08 Finals series will take place following the conclusion of the regular season on November 20, with dates and details of each match to be confirmed.
The WBBL fixture will be announced tomorrow, with tickets for this summer’s Sixers WBBL and BBL matches on-sale to the public at 2pm, August 18 (AEST).
