The Sydney Sixers have announced a 13-player squad for their 11th match of BBL|09 – the game against the Sydney Thunder, to be played at Sydney Showgrounds Stadium, tomorrow night.

The fixture is the second Sydney Smash of the season, the previous edition won by the Sixers in a thrilling Super Over at the SCG on December 28.

There are two changes to the group that played in the abandoned game at the SCG last night. Spinner Ben Manenti and fast bowler Henry Thornton come out of the squad, with Test star Nathan Lyon and the talented Mickey Edwards coming into the 13.

The game is the first of BBL|09 for Lyon who has been recovering from a minor thumb injury since claiming ten wickets for Australia in the New Year’s Test against New Zealand at the SCG.

Lyon will finalise his fitness within the next 24 hours but is hopeful of playing and excited to be back into the Magenta strip.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back out there for the Sixers,” Lyon said.

“Whether that’s Saturday or Monday or whenever, I want to make a contribution as we head towards the finals.

“We get (Steve) Smith and (Josh) Hazlewood back soon too, so it’s a pretty exciting team to be around.”
