Test star Nathan Lyon’s return to the Sydney Sixers has temporarily been put on ice following the thumb injury the spinner suffered in the Sydney Test.
Lyon will miss the Sixers’ matches on the 8th, 12th and 16th of January before being assessed by medical staff ahead of the return leg of the Sydney Smash at Sydney Showgrounds Stadium on January 18.
Since joining the Sixers from the Adelaide Strikers in 2014, Lyon has taken 34 Big Bash wickets at an average of 17, with his appearances limited due to national duties.
His best figures for the Sixers came in BBL|05 when he returned 5-23 from 3.5 overs against the Hobart Hurricanes at the SCG.
The Sixers spinning stocks have been strong throughout BBL|09 with young guns Lloyd Pope and Ben Manenti amongst the pick of the Sixers’ attack.
The Sixers play the Adelaide Strikers at the Adelaide Oval tomorrow afternoon.
