The Sixers produced one of the most storied seasons in BBL history last summer when they claimed back-to-back titles, despite spending their entire campaign on the road, until they returned to their traditional home at the SCG for an unforgettable final.
O’Keefe, who has been part of all three Sixers’ BBL title-winning seasons, said the crowd during last summer’s final had been as good as any he had played in front of and meant a lot to the squad after months on the road due to COVID-19 related border restrictions.
“Last summer was something special for the Sixers and it was topped off by the amazing final at the SCG,” O’Keefe said.
“It was one of the loudest I have ever heard it and it was so good just to be back in front of family, friends and our amazing supporters. It really was like a big party.
“We want to replicate that again to kick off BBL|11 and with crowds in December allowed to be at 100 percent capacity, we want to sell it out.
“We want to be part of something special again with our fans.”
The December 5 blockbuster against the Stars will be the first of five games at the SCG in December (5, 11, 21, 29) and January (15), with the Sixers’ remaining two ‘home’ games taking place at Coffs Harbour’s C.ex Coffs International Stadium on January 1 and 9.
O’Keefe also called on the people of the Coffs Coast to get behind the Sixers for the matches that were made possible through the NSW Government and the NSW ICC T20 World Cup 2020 Cricket Legacy Fund.
“We loved our trip to Coffs Harbour two seasons ago and picked up a nice win, so we’d love to do it again this time around,” the former Test tweaker said.
“With two games there this season it would be great to get as many people as are allowed into C.EX Coffs International Stadium and have all of them cheering for us.”
