The Sydney Sixers are an Australian professional Twenty20 cricket team competing in the Big Bash League (BBL). Based at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the Sixers, along with the Sydney Thunder, succeeded the New South Wales Blues from the now-defunct KFC Twenty20 Big Bash.

Two Sydney Sixers young guns have been selected by the Cricket Australia (CA) Youth Selection Panel in a 15-player squad for the inaugural ICC Under 19 Women’s T20 World Cup set to be held in South Africa in 2023.

Sixers pair, Claire Moore and Jade Allen have been named in the travelling side for the World Cup, following the conclusion of the 2022-23 Under 19 Australian National Championships in Perth yesterday.

Moore was named Player of the Tournament after captaining the NSW Metropolitan side to the title, as well as scoring 371 runs at an average of 92.75 across the Championships, including an unbeaten 62 in the Final.

Allen was instrumental as NSW Country captain, taking the second-most wickets for the tournament (15), in addition to four catches and a run-out. Additionally, Allen was the tenth highest run-scorer for the tournament, adding 169 runs.

Australia’s squad, which contains eight players with domestic experience, will be led by NSW Metropolitan title winning coach and former Sixer’s great, Sarah Aley.

Australia will play group matches against Bangladesh, the USA and Sri Lanka at the World Cup which gets underway on January 14.
