The Sydney Sixers are an Australian professional Twenty20 cricket team competing in the Big Bash League (BBL). Based at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the Sixers, along with the Sydney Thunder, succeeded the New South Wales Blues from the now-defunct KFC Twenty20 Big Bash.

Thunder prevail in first trial but positive signs for Ellyse Perry

The Sydney Sixers played their first practice match, in preparation for the start of WBBL|06, on Thursday night at North Sydney Oval.

Despite the loss to the Sydney Thunder, the Sixers were boosted by the return of captain Ellyse Perry taking the field for the first time since tearing her hamstring during the Women’s T20 World Cup in March.

Perry bowled three overs returning 1-16.

Allrounder Erin Burns top-scored for the Sixers with 40 from 25 balls.

The Sixers WBBL|06 campaign begins on Sunday 25 October against the Thunder at North Sydney Oval. Tickets on sale from Friday 16 October.
