The Weber WBBL is set to light up the SCG once again this summer with the blockbuster between crosstown rivals, the Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder booked for Sunday, November 10.

Following the success of last summer’s Stadium Series, the club can today confirm that the Sixers will host Thunder in this season’s stadium clash, with the release of the complete Weber WBBL|10 set for next week.

Making a triumphant return to the SCG last season, the match marked the first WBBL fixture to be played at the venue since 2018 and the first time in the league’s history a WBBL match was held at the venue as a standalone fixture.

Closing out the league’s inaugural Stadium Series weekend, the match drew a record-breaking crowd of 7118, now sitting atop the podium as the highest attended standalone match in the regular season to date.

Fans were treated to a Sixers classic that afternoon, with Ash Gardner (4-26) and captain Ellyse Perry (82* off 60) starring in front of the bumper crowd, as the home side claimed a 9-wicket victory over their Western Sydney rivals.

The fiercest rivalry in the WBBL, the Sixers and Thunder are set to go head-to-head for a 19th time later this year; the score currently 10-6 in the Sixers favour.

Heading into a milestone tenth season, the WBBL continues to go from strength to strength, with the Sixers superstar line up bolstered this summer with the addition of international recruit, Amelia Kerr, as announced last month.

Sydney Sixers General Manager, Rachael Haynes said Sixers fans should be thrilled about the opportunity to see their favourite stars at Sydney’s most iconic venue.

“It was fantastic to see our community turn out in full force at the SCG last summer and we’re delighted to be hosting the Sydney Smash there again this season.

“Playing at the SCG is not only an incredible experience for our fans, but it is also a step forward for the league, giving our playing group the opportunity to compete at one of the best stadiums in the country.

“The SCG is known for its exceptional match day experience and we’re looking forward to taking it to the next level this summer, creating an atmosphere that’s welcoming for everyone from the serious cricket fanatics to families and sports fans.”

The complete Weber WBBL|10 fixture is set to be released next week.
