The Sydney Sixers have continued to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming Weber WBBL|10 season, with the addition of rising star Courtney Sippel for the next three years.

Signed by the Brisbane Heat as a teenager ahead of WBBL|04, the now 23-year-old has spent the last six seasons in teal, playing 48 games in her time on the sunshine state.

One of the most exciting prospects in the game, Sippel will join the Sixers class of young guns, tuning her craft under superstar captain Ellyse Perry and one of the world’s leading coaches in Charlotte Edwards.

The star is also set to be reunited with former Heat teammate, and newly acquired Sixers international recruit, Amelia Kerr this summer with the pair spending three seasons together in Brisbane.

Sixers General Manager, Rachael Haynes said the club was thrilled to sign Sippel and looking forward to what the young gun can bring to the group.

“Courtney is not only an incredibly exciting young player, but from what we have seen from her, she’s a fantastic person who embodies all that the Sixers are about.

“It’s a terrific opportunity for her to be mentored by some of the best players and coaches in the game and we know she’s looking forward to getting amongst our group and soaking up all that she can.

“We have a really established lineup of senior players who have been our nucleus for a long time, but the talent we are able to add to that group with the likes of Amelia Kerr and now Courtney makes us really pleased looking towards the future.

“We know our fans will welcome Courtney with open arms and they should be pumped to see her on this park in pink this summer.”

Sippel said she can’t wait for the opportunity that lies ahead in Sydney.

“I’m so excited to be joining the Sixers!” Sippel said.

“I’ve gotten to know a couple of the girls over the last few years and hearing how much they love playing for the club definitely contributed to me wanting to sign on.

“I can’t wait to get down to Sydney later in the year.”

The 23-year-old is due to take part in the upcoming Australia A series beginning in Queensland next month, linking up with new Sixers teammates Maitlan Brown and Kate Peterson for the series.

As announced last week, the Sixers are set to kick off their Weber WBBL|10 campaign on October 27 in Adelaide against the Melbourne Renegades.
