Best mates Usman Khawaja and Ben Cutting discuss what unity means to them

Sydney Thunder is proud and privileged to represent one of the most multicultural areas in Australia, Western Sydney, and is committed to leveraging the power of sport to bring people together.

This week is National Unity Week, a joint initiative of the Lebanese Muslim Association and Welcoming Australia that runs from October 23 to 31 to celebrate diversity and inclusion.

This year’s theme for National Unity Week is “Solidarity, Together We Rise”. Usman Khawaja, who immigrated to Australia from Pakistan when he was five years old, and Ben Cutting discuss what unity means to them and their experiences of diversity and inclusion in cricket.

Sydney Thunder strives to bring people of diverse backgrounds together through the annual HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup.

The HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup is a celebration of culture, cricket, community and social cohesion.

The seventh edition of the HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup, which begins in Canberra this weekend, will see teams represent six different communities – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup events in Sydney have been postponed until 2021 in accordance with public health advice and government protocols to protect everyone involved.
