Former Thunder batsman appointed club’s BBL List Manager
Former Sydney Thunder batsman Tim Cruickshank has been appointed the club’s BBL List Manager following the release of this season’s Big Bash fixtures earlier this week.
Cruickshank’s recruitment completes Thunder’s List Management team for the upcoming season after club great Alex Blackwell was named as WBBL List Manager last week.
Cruickshank, 39, is set to get straight to work with the League lifting the KFC BBL contracting embargo upon announcement of the fixtures on Wednesday.
He played three matches for the Thunder in season 2011/12 and was also part of the NSW Blues set-up between 2010 and 2013.
“I’ve always had that close affinity with the Thunder and wanted to see them do well,” Cruickshank said.
“I’ve been involved with Cricket NSW in a number of different capacities for a long time and I think I’ve got a really good understanding of the organisation and the high-performance systems.
“This side is on the cusp of doing big things, it’s really exciting to now be able to help and assist them, hopefully continue to improve and get some silverware over the next few years.”
Off the field, Cruickshank has acquired vast commercial experience, largely through his work with the Australian Cricketers’ Association over the better part of a decade, and holds a deep affinity with cricket from the grassroots level up.
For more than 20 years, Cruickshank has maintained a strong association with the Manly-Warringah District Cricket Club, whether as a player, coach or serving on the board.
He scored 9,055 First Grade runs for the club.
“I’m really excited by the strength of the current Thunder squad, I think it’s a really well-balanced line up,” Cruickshank said.
“It’s become stronger and stronger over the last few years and I’m looking forward to adding as much value as I can working with such well-respected cricket personalities such as (Head Coach) Trevor Bayliss and (CNSW Head of Male Cricket) Michael Klinger.”
