Sydney Thunder’s Daniel Sams and Jason Sangha have been rewarded for outstanding seasons with selection in the 13-player KFC Big Bash League Team of the Tournament.

The team, which includes two X-Factor players, was selected by the eight club coaches.

All-rounder Sams was a unanimous selection among the eight coaches. The 29-year-old’s power with the bat and prowess with the ball were on display this summer, scoring 191 runs at a strike rate of 161.86 and claiming 19 wickets as well.

Young gun Sangha was selected as one of two X-Factor Players. After forcing his way back into Thunder’s side, the 22-year-old made the number three position his own with 445 runs in 12 innings.

Trent Woodhill, Big Bash Leagues’ Player Acquisition and Cricket Consultant, said:

“This is one of the most exciting Team of the Tournament line ups in BBL history, featuring a combination of World Cup winners, seasoned BBL veterans, breakout stars and history-makers in our competition.

“The batting line up is packed with power and T20 prowess, while the bowling attack is varied and skillful. This line up has succeeded on our pitches throughout KFC BBL|11, but would be a handful in any conditions around the world.

“We congratulate all players selected and thank the eight head coaches for their careful consideration in selecting this side.”
