Big-hitting Englishman finishes BBL|10 as the tournament’s leading run-scorer

Sydney Thunder star Alex Hales has crowned a memorable KFC Big Bash League season by winning the BKT Golden Bat award.

The BKT Golden Bat is awarded to the leading run-scorer at the end of the tournament.

Hales scored 543 runs, including a highest score of 110 from 56 balls against the Sydney Sixers.

Sixers’ openers James Vince (537) and Josh Philippe (508) rounded out the top three leading run-scorers.

The big-hitting Englishman achieved that at a strike-rate of 161.61, the best among the top 25 run-scorers. He also pocketed the record for the most sixes in a single season with 30 maximums.

This award caps off a remarkable season for Hales who was voted the second-best player of the tournament by match umpires and named in the official Team of the Tournament.

Since joining the Thunder Nation ahead of BBL|09, Hales has scored 1,119 runs at 38.58 and a strike-rate of 153.70.

He is third all-time leading BBL run-scorer for the club, behind Usman Khawaja (1,718) and Callum Ferguson (1,325).
