HomeWorld Community Grants awarded to cricket clubs across the Thunder Nation

More cricket clubs than ever have benefited from much-needed financial assistance thanks to the HomeWorld Community Grant program.

After a record number of applications, the Cricket NSW Foundation matched HomeWorld’s contribution to increase the pool of funds to better support clubs after a difficult year.

Ten clubs across the Thunder Nation received a $1,000 grant to go towards developing grassroots programs and talent.

Committee Member for the Helensburgh Junior Cricket Club, Graeme Burill is grateful for the support from HomeWorld and the Cricket NSW Foundation.

“The grant enabled us to purchase three shade marquees for our teams to use on game days and at club events,” said Burill.

“We have limited natural shade around our local cricket ovals, so our junior cricketers now have a place to rest and recover in the shade on a hot summer’s day.

“We’re a small club so the branded marquees allow us to increase awareness in the local community too.”

Trudi Busch, Director of Marketing, Sponsorship and Community at HomeWorld, is proud to support grassroots cricket across the Thunder Nation.

“Cricket clubs across NSW continue to provide local communities with opportunities to come together, be active and play the game that we all love,” said Busch.

“HomeWorld recognises the importance of supporting these clubs, especially at times like these when many communities have been directly impacted by COVID-19, drought or flooding.

“We have extended our grants this year to help a broader range of communities, and we hope that these funds will ensure more people have access to playing cricket.”
