Scotland international and NSW Breakers batter, Saskia Horley, has signed a two-year deal with Sydney Thunder that sees her with the club until the end of Weber WBBL|10.

Horley is back for another two summers with Thunder having spent time with Scotland Women and English domestic side Sunrisers this winter, honing her skills.

Earning her first professional contract in 2019 with the Breakers and Thunder, Horley (born and raised in Australia but qualifies for Scotland through her mother’s Scottish roots) has played her cricket in many countries in the last few years. With stints at Middlesex County Cricket Club, Sunrisers and Scotland, Horley has had plenty of practice in the T20 format.

Top scoring with 51 for the NSW Breakers against the ACT Meteors last season and 52 for Scotland in her debut against Ireland in 2022, the budding middle order batter will look to add depth to Thunder’s side.

Horley comes back to the squad to see an exciting new set up with new head coach Lisa Keightley taking the reins as well as a new home ground in Cricket Central, changes that haven’t gone unnoticed by the player.

Horley commented on her rejoining the team: “I’m super pumped to be back with the group and the awesome talent we have this summer!

“Particularly with our new head coach Lisa [Keightley]. She’s worked with some world-class teams, there’s a lot to learn from her and the way she goes about the game.

“I hope to see as many of the Thunder Nation fans at Cricket Central and North Sydney Oval as possible!”

Sydney Thunder get underway at North Sydney Oval against arch-rivals Sydney Sixers on October 22.

Fans can get to their first fixture at Cricket Central on October 26 as Thunder take on Melbourne Renegades on home soil.
