Star recruit voted Player of the Tournament by Thunder teammates

Heather Knight has crowned a memorable debut season for Sydney Thunder by being awarded the Alex Blackwell Medal for WBBL|06.

Recruited from the Hobart Hurricanes, the experienced England captain played a pivotal role in Thunder’s title-winning campaign.

Knight scored a career-best 446 runs – the most runs ever made by a Thunder batter in one WBBL season – and claimed 10 wickets.

She declared her intent to dominate the opposition early in the season with a brilliant 83 from just 39 deliveries against the Adelaide Strikers at Sydney Showground Stadium.

As a result of her standout performances, Knight was named in the WBBL|06 Team of the Tournament and voted the third-best Player of the Tournament.
