The Sydney Thunder is an Australian professional cricket team competing in the Big Bash League (BBL). Based at Sydney Showground Stadium, the Thunder, along with the Sydney Sixers, succeeded the New South Wales Blues from the defunct KFC Twenty20 Big Bash.

Thunder continues one club approach

Sydney Thunder has revealed its new squad numbers ahead of the WBBL|06 season opener against the Sydney Sixers at North Sydney Oval on Sunday afternoon.

All numbers are drawn from a single list ensuring each player has their own number, a unique approach that unites Thunder’s two squads.

New recruit Lauren Smith will inherit the number two from retired club legend Alex Blackwell and young gun Anika Learoyd will wear number 4.

England captain Heather Knight will rep her national number 5, while Tammy Beaumont will take number 91.

Ben Cutting will wear his former Brisbane Heat number 31, while Arjun Nair will take number 24 after wearing number 7 for the last four seasons.

There have been no other changes to squad playing numbers for WBBL|06 and BBL|10.
