Thunder teammates Tanveer Sangha and Liam Marshall to join Davies in South Africa
Sydney Thunder young gun Ollie Davies has been named vice-captain of Australia’s squad to compete at the Under-19 ICC World Cup in South Africa, alongside Lachlan Hearne (C) and Mackenzie Harvey (VC).
Davies joined Thunder ahead of the ninth KFC Big Bash League season however injury prevented him from having the opportunity to make his debut.
The highly rated batsman has previously captained New South Wales Metro to an Under 19 Championship victory. During this tournament he scored a record-breaking double century, including six sixes in an over.
Davies is joined in the Australia squad by Thunder teammates Tanveer Sangha and Liam Marshall.
Talented leg-spinner Sangha was rewarded with a contract after impressing as a Development Rookie last season, while fast bowler Marshall is the club’s current Development Rookie.
Sangha has been replaced in the Thunder squad by leg-spinner Liam Bowe.
The Under-19 World Cup begins in South Africa on 17 January.
