Sydney Thunder: Registrations for Women’s HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup are now open

The Sydney Thunder is an Australian professional cricket team competing in the Big Bash League (BBL). Based at Sydney Showground Stadium, the Thunder, along with the Sydney Sixers, succeeded the New South Wales Blues from the defunct KFC Twenty20 Big Bash.

Sydney Thunder is calling for female cricketers from multicultural heritage to participate in the Women’s HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup.

Sydney Thunder and HomeWorld are committed to making cricket Australia’s most loved sport and to further providing opportunities for cricketers from around the Thunder Nation connect to their heritage and culture. Previous tournaments have seen teams formed to represent India, Pakistan, African Nations, European Nations, and a World XI squad. 

Cricket has long been a significant part of many cultures, and the annual HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup brings together cricketers from across NSW and the ACT to strengthen community ties and celebrate culture through cricket. 

Registrations for this seasons Women’s Thunder Nation Cup are now open. Sydney Thunder is looking for individuals or community groups to form teams to compete in this year’s tournament, due to be held in March 2023.  

We welcome participants of all skill levels and experiences to register their interest. Registrations close Sunday 22 January 2023.  

Individuals born in 2007 (age 15 in 2022) or above can register their interest by completing the online registration form –Register here or email community@sydneythunder.com.au for more information.
