Daniel Sams signs with Delhi Capitals.

Michael Hussey Medallist Daniel Sams has been signed by the Delhi Capitals for the upcoming Indian Premier League starting in September.

The left-arm seamer replaces former Sydney Thunder batsman and current England International Jason Roy, who will not take part in the IPL due to personal reasons.

Sams, 27, is currently in England as part of the 21-player Australian squad preparing to play three T20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals against the host nation. It is Sams’ first Australian tour.

He was named Thunder’s BBL|09 Player of the Tournament, last season, after taking a season record 30 wickets at an average of 15.36, which ultimately impressed national selectors.

In two seasons with Sydney Thunder, Sams has taken a club record 45 wickets.
