Rain was the ultimate winner as a sold out Sydney Smash ended in a no result, with each side taking a point apiece in front of a record 22,102-strong crowd.

Sydney Thunder posted 7/151 from their 20 overs and skipper Chris Green had removed Josh Philippe for 11 to leave the Sydney Sixers 1/34 before rain interrupted proceedings at the end of the fourth over.

The weather then set in for the remainder of the evening rendering any further play impossible and the game was called off at 10.05pm.

Earlier in the day, Alex Ross top scored with 44 from 39, and Alex Hales hit his 100th Big Bash maximum in a 19-ball 26, as the Thunder battled a score of over 150.
