In conjunction with the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD), Sydney Thunder will be supporting Library Health Month through digital versions of the Thunder Literacy Program this September.

The Thunder Literacy Program is delivered to promote the importance of reading and to create a life-long love of learning for young girls and boys.

Combining cricket activities and reading sessions, Sydney Thunder is committed to help make a meaningful impact across the Thunder Nation.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Library Health Month will be delivered online, featuring pre-recorded Thunder Literacy Program sessions with WBBL young gun Hannah Darlington and BBL all-rounder Nathan McAndrew. Cricket activities for kids will also be available through participating library websites.

WSLHD Centre for Population Health Deputy Director Christine Newman encouraged everyone to visit their local library’s online health website and sign up for the free Get Healthy information and coaching service.

“COVID-19 may have changed your routine and your normal activities, but our ongoing partnership with local libraries will always be here to support our communities,” said Newman.

“We’d like to remind people in our Western Sydney communities about the importance of healthy eating and active living, and how free programs like the Get Healthy service might help them.”

Now in its fourth year, WSLHD has partnered with libraries in the Hills Shire CouncilBlacktown City CouncilCity of Parramatta Council and Cumberland Council areas to spread the ‘Make Healthy Normal’ message to library visitors through Library Health Month in September.
