Sydney Thunder are excited to announce a five-year partnership with the City of Canada Bay and Sydney Cricket Club to make Drummoyne Oval the club’s home ground for the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).

Earlier this year, it was announced that Thunder would play three fixtures at Drummoyne Oval in WBBL|10 on November 12, 17, and 20. This partnership confirms the picturesque ground – host to some of the greatest moments in WBBL history – as Thunder’s home until at least the end of WBBL|14.

Thunder General Manager Trent Copeland highlighted the importance of this partnership in establishing a dedicated home for players and fans.

“We’re thrilled to call Drummoyne Oval our new home for WBBL,” Copeland said.

“This partnership is a fantastic opportunity to give our players and fans the consistent home venue they deserve, and bring top-tier cricket to an enthusiastic and welcoming community.

“Drummoyne Oval lends itself to the family friendly atmosphere that is synonymous with the WBBL, and we look forward to sharing the excitement with the City of Canada Bay and Sydney Cricket Club”

City of Canada Bay Mayor Michael Megna said the partnership represents a fantastic opportunity to enhance the City’s vibrant sporting culture.

“We are delighted to welcome Sydney Thunder to Drummoyne Oval, a world-class facility that is set to become an electrifying venue for cricket fans over the next five years,” Mayor Megna said.

“We are proud to support women in sport and to promote Drummoyne Oval as a first-class venue. It’s a fantastic opportunity for our community to experience world-class cricket right on our doorstep and I encourage everyone to come down.”

WBBL|10 Fixtures at Drummoyne Oval:

  • Tuesday, November 12: Sydney Thunder v Perth Scorchers
  • Sunday, November 17: Melbourne Stars v Brisbane Heat and Sydney Thunder v Sydney Sixers
  • Wednesday, November 20: Sydney Thunder v Melbourne Stars

In addition to world-class cricket, Thunder will also host a Cricket & Culture Festival on November 17, including great food and drink options, Bhangra dancers, Bollywood dancing classes, inflatables, live DJ, henna and face painting, tape ball games and more. For more information, visit here.

There is also the potential for an additional match if Thunder make the finals series. As part of the agreement, from 2024 to 2029, Drummoyne Oval will continue to host a minimum of two games per season.
