So, what does all-rounder Rachel Trenaman need to survive life in the Rebel WBBL Village?
1. Guitar – “It’s definitely top of the list. Been a bit of an outlet for me, the last 12 months. I played Dad’s old one, a little bit, at home during the HSC last year and I bought my first one in December. There’s a few songs I can play using the most basic of chords, I’ll stick with those for now.”
2. Laptop – “Have to bring it for uni, that’s pretty important. I think I want it more for Netflix and Foxtel though. I’ll need to include an HDMI, so I can plug it into a bigger screen, and I can watch it on the telly, which should be good.”
3. Basketball – “I’m a pretty big basketball fan. Love shooting a couple of hoops. Our Cricket NSW Personal Development Manager, Erin Todd, used to play in the Women’s Basketball League here in Australia, so I talk a lot of smack with her about the NBA. I’m going to spin it on my finger in my room or just shadow hoop. My favourite team is definitely Golden State.”
4. Few Plants – “I don’t know what the hotel rooms are going to look like, so to make it feel a little bit more homely, might take in a few plants, maybe some succulents, just very, very low maintenance, because I’ll probably kill them anyway.”
The full 59-match WBBL season begins on Sunday 25 October, with Thunder taking on crosstown rivals the Sydney Sixers at North Sydney Oval on the opening day of the tournament.
