Fans vote for historic Women’s Competition moment as the standout moment from The Hundred 2023
The votes are in: Tammy Beaumont has won The Hundred’s Play of the Competition for 2023.
Beaumont became the first women’s player to score a hundred in the competition and her outstanding, historic moment against Trent Rockets receives the honour as voted for by fans of The Hundred.
Pitting 16 moments from The Hundred against each other in a knockout tournament structure, the Play of the Competition saw Beaumont up against other significant and brilliant highlights.
Two particularly outstanding cricket moments were defeated in the round of 16 and quarter-finals, respectively, with Lauren Bell’s stunning ball to Grace Harris, and Ross Whiteley’s scarcely believable, match-defining boundary stop losing out.
The final four saw Beaumont up against other Welsh Fire moments. In the semi-final, her hundred toppled Shaheen Shah Afridi’s iconic wicket with the first ball he ever bowled in The Hundred. And, to win the vote, Shabnim Ismail’s astonishing match-winning hat-trick ball gained a competitive 44% of the vote against her captain’s record day.
Previous winners of the Play of the Competition are Kalea Moore’s magnificent wicket of Stafanie Taylor in 2021, and Sophia Smale’s brilliant high catch in 2022.
