The challenge for cricket clubs to stay alive has never been greater than during the current pandemic. The extended period of uncertainty has left many on the brink, but Titans Cricket has sought to do its utmost to help designated clubs within its community.

The Area Clubs Strategy is an integral part of the Transformation Portfolio at Titans Cricket, as the union seeks to impact as many lives as possible through the game.

All clubs under the Titans Cricket umbrella received R400 000 spread over the past five years, totalling R9,6 million in funding.

In addition to this, those clubs who fall under the Area Clubs programme received a collective R2,4 million in funding.

“The pipeline of players and officials remains a core focus in ensuring that we remain on course to produce quality players through the area clubs’ programme,” Board Member Kabelo Khaas explained.

The Area Clubs Sponsorship initiative sees clubs benefit from the partnership between the Titans and XSV Labs, who provide nutrition supplements for recovery and enhanced performance.

A percentage of all sales generated from a special coupon code, ‘TITANS21’, on the XSV website goes directly to the Area Clubs.

“The initiative has been launched, and it includes a percentage of online sales done by some of our sponsors and contributions by our technical sponsor to the area clubs,” Khaas continued.

“We understand the challenges that our clubs face, even at the best of times. Initiatives such as these will hopefully remind our clubs that they are integral to our structures, and that the Provincial structure stands with them, even in these challenging times,” Titans Cricket President Tebogo Siko said.

The project aims to provide the best opportunity to area club players, even in these most trying times.

The initiative has the full backing of the Titans Cricket Transformation committee.

“We have full confidence in this initiative, and we are ensuring the right level of focus and support to the Area Clubs. We must commend Kabelo for the work done in getting this in motion,” Titans Cricket CEO Dr Jacques Faul said.

“We look forward to the yield of the programmes, in grooming future Titans players through the area clubs. This is paramount, and is a key pillar to the portfolio. As ever, we are also extremely grateful to one of our partners, in XSV, for providing the platform to execute this strategy. Cricket is all about partnerships,” Dr Faul added.
