As cricket training resumes around the country, Titans Cricket is proud to announce Byron Fraser as the new Titans Ladies head coach.

A player in his own right, Fraser has been involved in the game for years, and holds a Level 3 coaching qualification.
He is particularly excited to contribute to the growth of the women’s game.

“I believe that ladies cricket is growing rapidly, and I want to help the ladies here achieve their dreams of playing for the Momentum Proteas one day,” Fraser said.

“The Titans have achieved unparalleled success in the past, and I believe they will continue to do so in the future. I am looking forward to being a part of this, and hopefully contribute to further success for the brand,” the Pretoria-born Fraser explained.

Having worked within the Titans Cricket family, including specialised coaching programme SSE, Fraser is in tune with the demands that come with wearing the Sky Blue shirt.

“My philosophy has always been to try and improve on what we were the day before,” he said simply.

“This philosophy is more than just cricket. Improvement in all aspects is encouraged,” he added.

One of the challenges that women’s cricket in South Africa continues to face is enough game time in the domestic ranks. Fraser wants to expose his players to as much cricket as possible, but also wants to improve other aspects of their knowledge base. He wants to achieve this by enrolling them in umpiring and coaching courses, to help form well-rounded cricketers.

“This knowledge could potentially have the added benefit of keeping more women’s players on the game beyond their playing days,” he pointed out.

The signs all point to a tantalising season ahead, and Fraser says he just can’t wait to get stuck in.

“I’m looking forward to building the team spirit and the camaraderie throughout our campaign. I want to use that to pull together in the big moments, and win as a team.”
