The 2021/2022 Cricket South Africa Awards, held virtually on 14 August, again saw the Titans flag flying high with domestic and international accolades.

A stellar season of performances from SuperSport Park was rewarded with awards handed to players and staff alike.

“We are very proud of the efforts of all our players and staff throughout last season, and our congratulations go out to those who won awards on such a great stage,” Titans cricket CEO Dr Jacques Faul commented.

“I would also like to congratulate every nominee and winner on the night, from all corners of South Africa. All these wonderful people are continuing to grow the love for the sport and make us all proud to be associated with this great game.”

Aiden Markram’s sparkling batting in the 2021 T20 World Cup saw him scoop the Men’s International T20 Player of the Year award, while Simon Harmer’s ripper to Najmul Hossain Shanto of Bangladesh won the Best Delivery Fueled by KFC award.

Domestically, coach Mandla Mashimbyi continued a fine Titans tradition by securing the Division 1 Coach of the Season, an award previously dominated by his predecessors, current Proteas men’s coach mark Boucher and Rob Walter.

Mashimbyi secured the four-day title in thrilling fashion, and also saw his charges reach the two limited-overs finals, in a season of great success for the Titans.

Bryan Bloy’s excellent playing surfaces at SuperSport Park were also recognised, as he was handed the Kemach Equipment Groundsman of the Year award for his consistency and his quality. An award that he has received before in past seasons.

Arthur McGee of the Titans Deaf Cricket team dominated the Inter-Provincial tournament, and he received the Player of the Season award in that category.

Much is anticipated from young Dewald Brevis, and the early promise that he has shown with the bat was evident when he was the standout young player in South Africa last season. For this, he was named as the CSA Under 19 Player of the Year.

Donovan Ferreira has also made excellent strides through the pipeline, and he added a CSA Student Player of the Year award to his list of accolades from last season.

Adding to a night of pride and celebration for the Northerns Cricket Union was the pair of awards won by esteemed umpire Allahudien Paleker. The popular man in the middle continues to set an exemplary standard every season, and he was rewarded with the CSA Umpire of the Year, as well as the CSA Umpires’ Umpire of the Year trophies.

Titans Cricket would like to congratulate all the winners and nominees from all the corners of South African cricket.
