The Members’ Council of Cricket South Africa (CSA) concluded their two-day workshop today. In-depth discussions took place pertaining to the governance structure and the revision of the Memorandum of Incorporation (MOI) to address its shortcomings and to update the document to make it fit for purpose.

Amongst the various key issues related to governance, the Council agreed on the important matter concerning the composition of the organisational structure, and in particular, the role and responsibilities of the Members’ Council, Board of Directors and the Executive Management of CSA. Significantly, it was agreed that ongoing evaluation of the said personnel’s performance will inform decisions around accountability, suitability, and the level of required performance.

In addition, the Members’ Council addressed the past ambiguity of the nominations process through the establishment of an interim selection panel consisting of members from both within and outside of the cricket community as a test for fairness and transparency.

The agreed revisions form part of the discussions and the subsequent changes to the MOI, ahead of the forthcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The Members’ Council was due to meet representatives from SASCOC on Sunday. The meeting was postponed to Monday evening as per SASCOC’s request. CSA remains committed to working with SASCOC and looks forward to a fruitful discussion.

In line with CSA’s commitment to openness, transparency and our renewed efforts to revitalise relations with all valued stakeholders, CSA invites all members of the media to an online media conference on Tuesday, 15 September 2020 with representatives of the Members’ Council.  Further details regarding the online conference will follow soon.
