USA Cricket is delighted to announce its inaugural Volunteer of the Year Awards that will launch in 2021 and which will recognize the commitment, dedication and excellence among the lifeblood of the American cricketing community.

As an acknowledgement of the crucial role that volunteers play in growing and supporting the sport of cricket across the United States, a series of Volunteer Awards will be presented on an annual basis commencing in December 2021.  In 2021, these Awards will be presented across the following five categories;

USA Cricket – Volunteer of the Year Awards

  • Junior/Youth Cricket – Volunteer of the Year
  • Women/Girls Cricket Volunteer of the Year
  • Match Official – Volunteer of the Year
  • Coach/Support Staff – Volunteer Award
  • Administrator – Volunteer Award

Nominations for the five volunteer awards will be sought from the wider USA cricket community with all worthy nominations encouraged via an online form which can be accessed here. Nominations will stay open for the next six weeks, closing on 30th November, 2021.

USA Cricket Development Manager, Jamie Lloyd, said “Volunteers have long played a vital role at all levels of the sport in this country and we’re excited to go some way to publicly recognizing their invaluable contributions with these awards.  USA Cricket has appointed an army of volunteers who tirelessly support its youth, women’s and umpiring initiatives, and they deserve an enormous amount of thanks and praise.  But there are thousands of other volunteers at all levels of the wider community that also deserve to have their contributions recognized, and through this process we are looking to identify and reward all of that hard work and sacrifice in furthering the interest of our sport in the USA.”

Today’s announcement will be complemented in the coming weeks by the announcement of the inaugural USA Cricket Annual Awards, the categories for which will be announced shortly and which will include all of the Volunteer of the Year Awards alongside a number of other playing and other categories.

USA Cricket Chief Executive, Iain Higgins, added, “Cricket’s ongoing sustenance and the potential for growth here in the United States is primarily due to the dedication of thousands of volunteers all across the USA. We want to identify, recognize and reward the most outstanding achievements in this space with the creation of the five awards announced today. These Volunteer Awards will be a critical part of the wider annual USA Cricket Awards that we are excited to announce later in the year and which will be published in December 2021.”
