- Allrounder Taranum Chopra has been ruled out of the ongoing ICC U19 T20 World Cup in South Africa after an injury sustained during practice
- USA Women’s National Selection panel names 18 year-old All-Rounder, Tya Gonsalves as the replacement who has landed in South Africa and will be available for selection ahead of the final group game in the tournament
Taranum Chopra has been ruled out of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa due to injury. Following medical assessment in South Africa, Chopra has been advised of a thumb fracture and has returned home today from South Africa for further medical treatment.
Chopra has been replaced by All-Rounder, Tya Gonsalves who has been called into action for the United States of America for the first time and has landed in South Africa.
The Event Technical Committee of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 has approved Tya Gonsalves as a replacement for Taranum Chopra. Gonsalves has joined the team’s practice sessions before USA’s third game against Bangladesh on January 18, 2023 at 3am ET / 12am PT.
USA have lost their first two group matches in Group A of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup with the current points table as below:
