  • Geetika Kodali to captain USA Under 19s in the ground-breaking series of 5 U19 T20 Internationals vs West Indies U19 Women’s team

USA Cricket are pleased to announce the USA Women’s Under 19 squad for the historic home series of 5 internationals vs West Indies Women’s Under 19s that begins next week in Florida. All five matches directly follow the conclusion of the USA Cricket sanctioned international series between the Senior West Indies and India Men’s sides with the concluding two T20Is in the series being played today on Saturday and tomorrow Sunday at the Central Broward Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida. The two Women’s Under 19 teams will then enjoy use of the same facilities and pitches over the course of the inaugural series that runs from Monday August 8th through to Sunday August 14th.

Geetika Kodali who successfully captained the Eastern/Central Conference to a 3-1 victory in the Sistar Mortgage Women’s National Championships 2022 that concluded this week, with another one of the stars of the matches in Texas, Anika Kolan being named as her vice-captain. It is a 15-player squad with most of the players from the successful touring squad that won the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars U19 T20 Championship in Trinidad being named to take on the full West Indies side.

The tour is an ideal opportunity for both countries to test each other with both teams having qualified for the inaugural ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup taking place in South Africa in January 2023. Two of the five matches are being played under floodlights and all matches come with a free admission for any spectators who wish to get behind the two teams.

USA Cricket Women’s Selection Panel Chair, Ritesh Kadu said, “It’s been a really busy period for the Women’s game with the majority of this group of players only returning from Trinidad last month before we entered into Sistar Mortgage Regionals and Nationals in Texas. Our younger girls have continued to perform and excel and show how bright the future is for the Women’s game across the country. We were so proud of this group when they won the Rising Stars T20 Championship in Trinidad, but we know it will be a big step up playing against the full West Indies U19 team and we’re all expecting a really competitive and engaging series that will give both sides huge benefit ahead of the inaugural U19 World Cup in January in South Africa.”
