The Cricket Australia Indoor Cricket National Championships wrapped up last weekend, with Western Australia finishing juniors week with three titles across various age divisions.

Both the Junior and Senior Nationals took place in Ipswich, Brisbane over the past two weeks, with WA sending nine teams to compete.

All six junior teams sent by WA made the Grand Final, in a great sign for the future of Indoor Cricket in the state, with the U18 Boys, U16 Girls and U14 Boys all lifting the trophy after dominant performances in their respective Grand Finals.

The Senior teams also performed strongly, with the U22 Men, U22 Women and the Open Men’s sides showing they will be a force to be reckoned with over the next couple of years.

The U22 Men finished fourth with three wins from eight matches, including taking it right up to eventual division winners New South Wales, falling one run short of their 95-run target.

Keagan Lynch, Cruz Harber-Connell and Ethan Benson were the best performers across the Championships, with the trio chosen the Men’s National Development Squad.

Despite finishing with two wins from nine matches, The U22 Women played an exciting brand of cricket over the week, highlighted by outstanding individual performances.

Tene Crafford led from the front as captain, with her on-field contributions recognised with selection in the Women’s National Development Squad.

The Open Men’s division was taken out by Australian Capital Territory, who finished with 11 wins from 12 matches, while WA finished sixth with five wins. Josh Fontana and Mark Rice were the standouts for WA, with both contributing strongly with the bat.

Fontana and Adrian Lascu were rewarded for their consistency throughout the Championships, to be named in the National Touring Squad.

The U16 Boys, U14 Boys and U18 Girls all made it to the Grand Final stage after prominent showings during the preliminary matches but fell short.

Overall, it was a successful week for all WA teams who travelled for the Championships, with the state continuing to be a force in Indoor Cricket.
