The South Australia cricket team, known as the West End Redbacks and nicknamed "Southern Redbacks," is a first-class team based in Adelaide, South Australia. Wearing red, white, and black, they play their home matches at Adelaide Oval. The team represents South Australia in the Sheffield Shield and the Matador BBQ's One Day Cup. Formerly competing in the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash, they were succeeded by the Adelaide Strikers in 2011 with the advent of the Big Bash League.

The West End Redbacks advise that Tom Cooper, Will Bosisto, Brad Davis, Conor McInerney and Luke Robins have been delisted following the 2020-21 season.

“We felt that these difficult decisions had to be made with a focus on improved results going forward,” Head Coach Jason Gillespie said.

“This announcement will afford us the capacity to take a renewed approach to recruiting this off-season, as we hunt positive results in the coming years.

“We thank Tom, Will, Brad, Conor and Luke for their fine efforts on and off the pitch and wish them well for the future.”

Cooper’s South Australia career ends with over 150 games played and more than 8000 runs scored across both formats.

The 34-year-old made his SA Sheffield Shield debut against Western Australia at Adelaide Oval in November of the 2008-09 season, and he made his first List A start against the same opposition just three days after the close of the first-class fixture.

The right-hander was in the 2011-12 One-Day Cup Championship team and played an integral part throughout as the tournament’s third-highest run-scorer.

Cooper joins Callum Ferguson and Chadd Sayers as SA’s first-class veterans who will not be playing on.

“Tom, Callum and Chadd have all made top-class contributions to this State, and again we thank them for their efforts over a long period of time,” Gillespie added.

“It is now time for us to assemble a rejuvenated list and continue to shape Australian cricketers.”

SA will announce its 2021-22 contract list in the coming month(s).
