Bio

Chris Simpson is the current Chairman of Queensland Cricket, a position he has held since July 2019. However, his association with Queensland Cricket extends back over a decade, having represented the team from February 2002 to April 2010, and captained the team from 2007 to 2010. During his time with the team, he played in 51 first-class, 57 one-day, and 24 T20 matches.

Simpson has been a Board Member of Queensland Cricket since 2017, having retired from cricket in 2012. He is also a Freelance Consultant at Byrne, Camel & Co., where he has held the role since January 2014. Over the past two years, he has worked on multiple freelance consulting contracts with clients across private equity firms, family offices, and management consultancies.

In addition to his role at Byrne, Camel & Co., Simpson is also the Managing Director of Cultivate Agri Partnerships, a boutique investment manager specializing in Australian Agriculture, a position he has held since January 2017.

Simpson spent almost four years at Suncorp Group, one of Australia’s largest financial services organizations, where he supported millions of customers through a network of brands. During the last nine months of his tenure at Suncorp Group, he was R M Professional and Executive, where he helped develop and launch Suncorp Premier & Executive, a product focused on delivering peer-leading service to sophisticated property investors.

Since January 2016, Simpson has been volunteering for a foundation that raises funds for a bursary established to support the transition period from elite sport to senior corporate roles.

Simpson has a Master’s degree in Finance from London Business School and an Executive MBA from Queensland University of Technology (QUT). He also holds Business Management certification from QUT.
