Bio

Hamilton Masakadza is a former Zimbabwe International Cricket Player and current administrator. 

He made his debut in July 2001 and went on to represent Zimbabwe Men’s National Cricket team in 313 matches across the three formats of the game. He had two captaincy stints including one at the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2015.

Masakadza set a world record in July 2001, becoming the youngest player to make a century on a Test debut at the age of 17 years and 352 days. This record was since broken only once by Mohammad Ashraful in September 2001. Masakadza is also the first player from any country to make two 150+ scores in the same ODI series, when he made 156 and 178 unbeaten in a home ODI series against Kenya.

Masakadza is currently the first Director of Cricket at Zimbabwe Cricket, a role he has been performing since September 2019. He is responsible for defining policy, strategy and programmes of best practice through all Zimbabwe’s team. He is also responsible for the recruitment, management and interaction of senior cricket technical staff and is tasked with ensuring that captains and coaches are providing effective leadership to the national team.

Masakadza has a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Marketing from University of Free State.
