Bio
Mike Hesson is the Director of Cricket Operations of the Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore, a role he has played since Sep 2019. He is responsible for the team’s overall cricket operations including defining policy, strategy, programs scouting and performance management.
He also serves as the Director of Hesson Consultancy Limited, a New Zealand Limited Company, since July 2015.
Hesson has extensive experience in coaching cricket, having served as the head coach of New Zealand Men’s Cricket Team for 6 years, becoming the Black Caps’ longest serving cricket coach in the process.
Hesson’s coaching experience also includes stints with Kenya Men’s Cricket Team, Kings XI Punjab and Otago Cricket. He was involved with Otago for 15 years, starting with the 7-year training period as their Director of Cricket before being appointed as their Head Coach in 2004 after a stint as an assistant coach.
Hesson’s honors include being awarded the distinction of Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to Cricket, being appointed as a Coaches Representative to the International Cricket Council in May 2018.
